About Jerry Redfern
Jerry Redfern, a member of OnAsia Images in Bangkok, has worked as a photojournalist for more than 15 years. Following a series of stints at newspapers in the US, he and his wife, writer Karen Coates, moved to Cambodia in 1998, where he worked for Agence France-Presse and several major newspapers. He and Coates now combine their talents to examine under-reported stories in Asia and beyond.
Redfern holds a degree in journalism from The University of Montana, and his work has won awards from the National Press Photographers Association's national and regional Pictures of the Year competitions. Redfern's images appear in publications around the world, including The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Geo, Der Spiegel, National Wildlife, Archaeology and many others. Over the last few years he has also taught photojournalism classes in Southeast Asia through a variety of journalism training centers.
